Description

Mongolian Beef is a delicious dish featuring tender beef with a sweet and savory sauce, perfect for quick weeknight dinners or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb beef sirloin, sliced into thin strips
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • Cooked rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beef strips and cook until browned; remove and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add garlic and ginger; sauté until fragrant.
  3. Stir in soy sauce, brown sugar, and water; bring to a simmer.
  4. Mix cornstarch with a little water in a separate bowl, then add to the skillet to thicken the sauce.
  5. Return the beef to the skillet and stir to coat fully in the sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  6. Garnish with green onions and serve over cooked rice.

Notes

For a variation, substitute beef with chicken or tofu. You can also add sesame seeds on top for extra flavor.
