Description
Strawberry Fig Jam blends the bright sweetness of strawberries with the honeyed depth of figs for a rich, fruity, and naturally thick preserve. Made without pectin and full of natural flavor, this easy homemade jam is perfect for breakfast, baking, or gifting all year long.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and chopped (or frozen and thawed)
- 2 cups fresh figs, stems removed and chopped (or dried figs rehydrated)
- 1¾ cups granulated sugar
- ¼ cup fresh lemon juice (about 2 lemons)
- 1 tablespoon lemon zest (optional)
- Pinch of salt (optional)
Instructions
- Wash, trim, and chop the strawberries and figs. If using dried figs, soak them in warm water for 30 minutes, then chop.
- Add strawberries, figs, sugar, lemon juice, lemon zest, and salt to a large pot. Stir well and let sit 10–15 minutes to release juices.
- Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat and simmer 35–45 minutes, stirring frequently. Mash or blend for desired texture.
- Place a spoonful on a cold plate; if it holds its shape and doesn’t run, it’s ready.
- Ladle into clean jars, leaving ¼-inch headspace. Cool, seal, and refrigerate or process for long-term storage.
