Description

Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken is a simple yet flavorful dish. It combines smoky, savory, and sweet elements, resulting in tender chicken that melts in your mouth.


Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups barbecue sauce
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic (about 45 cloves, finely minced)
  • 2 pounds boneless skinless chicken thighs
  • Green onions (optional for garnishing)
  • Sesame seeds (optional for garnishing)

Instructions

  1. Spray the insert of your slow cooker with cooking spray, if desired.
  2. Add the barbecue sauce, honey, and garlic; stir to combine.
  3. Remove 1/2 cup of the sauce and refrigerate for later use.
  4. Add the chicken and coat it evenly with the sauce.
  5. Arrange the chicken in a flat layer in the slow cooker.
  6. Cover and cook on HIGH for 2 ½ to 3 hours or on LOW for 5 to 6 hours until the chicken reaches 165F.
  7. Optionally, shred the chicken with two forks after cooking.
  8. Add the reserved sauce to the shredded chicken and mix well.
  9. Garnish with green onions, sesame seeds, or red pepper flakes if desired.
  10. Serve over rice, mashed potatoes, or in tortillas or sliders.
