Description

A simple yet flavorful Margherita pizza topped with fresh mozzarella, basil, and a hint of olive oil.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup crushed tomatoes
  • 8 oz fresh mozzarella, sliced
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Add flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture, and knead into a dough.
  3. Let the dough rise for 1 hour in a warm place until doubled in size.
  4. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface, then transfer it to a baking sheet.
  6. Spread the crushed tomatoes over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  7. Top with mozzarella slices and season with salt and pepper.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.
  9. Remove from oven, top with fresh basil, and drizzle with olive oil before serving.

Notes

For a crispier crust, use a baking stone and preheat it in the oven.
