Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup crushed tomatoes
- 8 oz fresh mozzarella, sliced
- Fresh basil leaves
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Add flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture, and knead into a dough.
- Let the dough rise for 1 hour in a warm place until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface, then transfer it to a baking sheet.
- Spread the crushed tomatoes over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Top with mozzarella slices and season with salt and pepper.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.
- Remove from oven, top with fresh basil, and drizzle with olive oil before serving.
Notes
For a crispier crust, use a baking stone and preheat it in the oven.
