Description

Pecan Pie Bread Pudding is a delicious dessert that combines the flavors of pecan pie with the comforting texture of bread pudding.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups of day-old bread, cubed (French or brioche works best)
  • 1 cup of chopped pecans
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups of whole milk
  • 1 cup of heavy cream
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon of salt
  • ½ cup of maple syrup or corn syrup
  • Optional: Whipped cream or ice cream for serving

Instructions

  1. Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the cubed bread and chopped pecans. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  4. Pour the custard mixture over the bread and pecans. Gently fold to ensure all the bread cubes are soaked.
  5. Drizzle the maple syrup or corn syrup over the top and gently mix.
  6. Allow the mixture to sit for about 15 minutes, so the bread absorbs the liquid.
  7. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool for 15-20 minutes before serving.
  9. Cut into squares and serve warm, optionally topped with whipped cream or ice cream.

Notes

  • Use stale bread for better absorption.
  • Adjust sweetness by modifying the amount of sugar or syrup.
  • Add chocolate chips for an extra treat.
