Description
Pecan Pie Bread Pudding is a delicious dessert that combines the flavors of pecan pie with the comforting texture of bread pudding.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 cups of day-old bread, cubed (French or brioche works best)
- 1 cup of chopped pecans
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups of whole milk
- 1 cup of heavy cream
- 1 cup of granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon of salt
- ½ cup of maple syrup or corn syrup
- Optional: Whipped cream or ice cream for serving
Instructions
- Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, combine the cubed bread and chopped pecans. Set aside.
- In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- Pour the custard mixture over the bread and pecans. Gently fold to ensure all the bread cubes are soaked.
- Drizzle the maple syrup or corn syrup over the top and gently mix.
- Allow the mixture to sit for about 15 minutes, so the bread absorbs the liquid.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool for 15-20 minutes before serving.
- Cut into squares and serve warm, optionally topped with whipped cream or ice cream.
Notes
- Use stale bread for better absorption.
- Adjust sweetness by modifying the amount of sugar or syrup.
- Add chocolate chips for an extra treat.
