Description

Pecan pie bars made with maple syrup, no corn syrup here!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 10 tablespoons unsalted butter, cold and diced
  • 6 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 cup + 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup pecan halves, toasted
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup pecan halves, toasted

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350. Line an 8×8” pan with parchment paper in both directions.
  2. In a food processor, add the diced butter, sugar, flour, pecans, and salt. Pulse until it forms a large ball.
  3. Press the crust mixture into the pan evenly. Press it up the sides at least 1”.
  4. Bake for 30 minutes. Halfway through, press down any puffy places in the dough.
  5. After 30 minutes, remove the crust and press down any puffed areas.
  6. Let the crust cool completely.
  7. Melt the butter in the microwave. In a large bowl, add the melted butter and remaining ingredients, except pecans. Whisk well.
  8. Stir in the toasted pecans. Pour this mixture over the crust and bake for 30 minutes.
  9. Let the bars cool completely before slicing. Chill overnight in the fridge for best results.

Notes

  • Use fresh, toasted pecans for best flavor.
  • Chilling overnight helps the bars set properly.
