Description
Pecan pie bars made with maple syrup, no corn syrup here!
Ingredients
Scale
- 10 tablespoons unsalted butter, cold and diced
- 6 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 cup + 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup pecan halves, toasted
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup pecan halves, toasted
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350. Line an 8×8” pan with parchment paper in both directions.
- In a food processor, add the diced butter, sugar, flour, pecans, and salt. Pulse until it forms a large ball.
- Press the crust mixture into the pan evenly. Press it up the sides at least 1”.
- Bake for 30 minutes. Halfway through, press down any puffy places in the dough.
- After 30 minutes, remove the crust and press down any puffed areas.
- Let the crust cool completely.
- Melt the butter in the microwave. In a large bowl, add the melted butter and remaining ingredients, except pecans. Whisk well.
- Stir in the toasted pecans. Pour this mixture over the crust and bake for 30 minutes.
- Let the bars cool completely before slicing. Chill overnight in the fridge for best results.
Notes
- Use fresh, toasted pecans for best flavor.
- Chilling overnight helps the bars set properly.
