Description

New Orleans Bread Pudding is a delicious dessert made with cubed bread soaked in a creamy custard and baked to perfection.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups day-old bread, cubed
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup raisins (optional)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
  • Rum sauce for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Place the cubed bread in a large mixing bowl and set aside.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  4. Pour the custard mixture over the cubed bread. Gently stir to ensure all pieces are soaked.
  5. If using, fold in the raisins for added sweetness and texture.
  6. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Drizzle the melted butter over the top.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.
  8. Remove from the oven and allow it to cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
