- 6 cups day-old bread, cubed
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup raisins (optional)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
- Rum sauce for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Place the cubed bread in a large mixing bowl and set aside.
- In another bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- Pour the custard mixture over the cubed bread. Gently stir to ensure all pieces are soaked.
- If using, fold in the raisins for added sweetness and texture.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Drizzle the melted butter over the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.
- Remove from the oven and allow it to cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
- Dust with powdered sugar, if desired, or drizzle with rum sauce.
Notes
- This bread pudding can be served warm or cold.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
