- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ cup honey
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon hot sauce (adjust to taste)
- Slider buns (8-10)
- Pickles (optional, for serving)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the buttermilk with the chicken thighs. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (or overnight for best flavor).
- In another bowl, mix the flour, cayenne pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
- In a deep skillet, heat about 2 inches of oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- Remove the chicken from the buttermilk, letting any excess drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture until fully coated.
- Carefully add the coated chicken to the hot oil. Fry for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
- In a small bowl, mix the melted butter, honey, and hot sauce until well combined.
- Once the chicken is cooked, remove it from the oil and let it drain on paper towels. While still warm, brush the spicy honey butter generously over each piece.
- Slice the slider buns in half. Place a piece of the honey butter chicken on the bottom half of each bun. Add pickles if desired, and top with the bun lid.
- Arrange the sliders on a platter for serving.
Notes
- For extra heat, add more hot sauce to the honey butter mixture.
- These sliders are best served fresh.
