Description

These mini beef Wellington bites are an elegant, crowd-pleasing appetizer made with tender beef, savory mushroom duxelles, and flaky puff pastry.


Ingredients

  • Beef tenderloin or steak, cut into small cubes
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Olive oil
  • Mushrooms, finely chopped
  • Garlic, minced
  • Onion or shallot, finely chopped
  • Butter
  • Fresh thyme or herbs (optional)
  • Puff pastry, thawed but cold
  • Egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Dijon mustard (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook chopped mushrooms, garlic, and onion in butter until all moisture evaporates and mixture is thick. Let cool completely.
  2. Season beef with salt and pepper. Sear quickly in hot oil until browned outside but still rare inside. Cool.
  3. Cut puff pastry into squares. Spread mustard if using, add mushroom filling, top with beef, and wrap pastry to seal.
  4. Place seam-side down on baking sheet and brush with beaten egg.
  5. Bake until puffed, golden, and crisp.
  6. Let cool briefly before serving.
