Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound Boneless Chicken Thighs or Breasts
- 1/4 cup Soy Sauce
- 2 tablespoons Brown Sugar or Honey
- 2 cloves Garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon Fresh Ginger, minced
- 1 tablespoon Sesame Oil
- 1 tablespoon Gochujang (or Gochugaru)
- 2 tablespoons Rice Vinegar or Mirin
- 1 tablespoon Vegetable Oil or Neutral Oil
- 4 pieces Wooden or Metal Skewers
- 1 tablespoon Sesame Seeds
- 2 tablespoons Sliced Green Onions
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, ginger, sesame oil, gochujang (if using), rice vinegar, and a splash of oil. Whisk until everything is blended nicely.
- Add the boneless chicken thighs or breasts into the marinade, ensuring each piece is fully coated. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 3 hours for maximum flavor.
- Set your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
- Thread the marinated chicken onto your skewers, leaving a little space between each piece so they cook evenly.
- Grill the skewers for about 4–5 minutes on each side until fully cooked and gently charred.
- Let the skewers rest for a couple of minutes.
- Finish by garnishing with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
Notes
- For an authentic experience, serve with a side of kimchi.
- Soak wooden skewers in water for 30 minutes before use to prevent burning.
- For gluten-free, substitute soy sauce with tamari.
- Adjust the amount of gochujang or omit it for a milder flavor.
- Marinate chicken for up to 24 hours for deeper flavor.
