Description
Hot Honey Sauce is a sweet and spicy golden condiment made by infusing honey with chili flakes or peppers. Perfect for drizzling over pizza, fried chicken, roasted vegetables, or even toast, it strikes the ideal balance between heat and sweetness.
Ingredients
Scale
- ½ cup (170g) honey (preferably raw or pure honey)
- 1½ teaspoons red pepper flakes (adjust to your heat preference)
- 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar or white vinegar (optional, for acidity and shelf life)
- A pinch of salt (optional, enhances flavor)
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, add honey and red pepper flakes. Stir gently to mix.
- Place the pan over low heat. Let it warm slowly for 4–5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Do not let it boil.
- Keep on low for another 2–3 minutes until fragrant as the chili releases its spice.
- Stir in vinegar if using to brighten flavor and extend shelf life.
- Let the mixture cool slightly. Strain out chili flakes for a smooth texture or leave them in for more heat.
- Transfer to a sterilized glass jar or bottle. Seal tightly and store at room temperature or refrigerate.
Notes
- Hot Honey Sauce is shelf-stable.
- Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to suit your heat preference.
- This sauce pairs well with various dishes.
