Eggnog French Toast Bake is a festive, easy-to-make breakfast dish perfect for holiday mornings. This overnight casserole combines rich eggnog, spices, and buttery bread cubes for a custardy, sweet breakfast casserole that bakes to a golden, puffy finish.

- 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 loaf French bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
- Cinnamon, to taste
- Nutmeg, to taste
- 8 eggs
- 2 cups prepared eggnog
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Grease a 9- by 13-inch baking dish or two 8- by 8-inch dishes with butter or nonstick cooking spray.
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Stir in the brown sugar and maple syrup. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat and pour into the prepared baking dish.
- Spread the cubed French bread on top of the mixture. Sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg to taste.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs. Add the eggnog and vanilla extract, mixing well.
- Pour the custard mixture over the bread cubes, pressing down lightly to coat all pieces.
- Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil and refrigerate for at least 8 hours or overnight.
- Preheat the oven to 325°F. Bake the casserole, covered with foil, for 40 minutes.
- Increase the oven temperature to 375°F, remove the foil, and bake for an additional 5 to 10 minutes until golden brown and a knife inserted comes out clean.
