Description
A crunchy peanut candy with a caramelized flavor, evoking childhood memories. This simple, no-bake treat is easy to make with just three ingredients and is perfect for gifting or enjoying with tea.
Ingredients
Scale
- 200 g natural peanuts (unsalted)
- 200 g granulated sugar
- 1/2 glass water (about 100 ml)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional, to prevent crystallization)
Instructions
- Prepare your mold: Line a baking sheet or tray with parchment paper or lightly oil a flat surface like a marble countertop. Have an oiled spatula or rolling pin ready.
- Make the caramel: In a thick-bottomed saucepan, combine sugar, water, and lemon juice. Heat over medium heat without stirring until a golden caramel forms, about 7-10 minutes. Watch carefully to prevent burning.
- Add peanuts: Once the caramel is a beautiful amber color, remove from heat and quickly stir in the peanuts, ensuring they are well coated.
- Spread the mixture: Immediately pour onto your prepared surface. Spread as quickly as possible using a lightly oiled spatula or rolling pin to an ideal thickness of about 0.5 to 1 cm.
- Score before hardening: Before the croquant cools completely, score lines to make it easier to break or cut once hardened. Let it cool completely, then break or cut into pieces.
Notes
- You can adapt this recipe with other dried fruits like almonds, cashews, pistachios, or a mix.
- Use dry-roasted peanuts for a more intense flavor.
- For flavored versions, add a pinch of cinnamon or vanilla to the caramel.
- Work quickly once the caramel is ready, as it hardens very fast.
