Ingredients

- 400 g flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 7 g dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 250 ml warm milk
- 40 g melted butter
- 1 egg
- 70 g melted butter (for garlic butter)
- 3 grated garlic cloves
- 1 teaspoon chopped parsley
- ½ teaspoon salt (for garlic butter)
- ¼ teaspoon pepper
- 1 pinch paprika (optional)
- 150 g grated mozzarella
- 40 g grated parmesan
- Parsley or chives for decoration
Instructions
- Make the Dough: Mix flour, sugar, yeast, salt. Add warm milk, melted butter, egg. Knead for 8–10 minutes until soft and elastic. Let rise for 1 hour (double in size). Punch down and shape into 24–28 small balls.
- Form the Christmas Tree: On a baking sheet, arrange the balls in a tree shape: 1 on top, 2 below, 3 next, etc. Finish with 3–4 balls for the trunk. Let rise for 20–25 minutes.
- Add Garlic Butter & Cheese: Mix melted butter, garlic, parsley, paprika, salt. Generously brush over the tree. Sprinkle mozzarella and parmesan.
- Bake: Bake at 190°C for 15–20 minutes until golden brown, cheese is melted and bubbling, edges are slightly caramelized.
- Finish: Sprinkle with fresh herbs. Serve warm with marinara sauce, pesto, or garlic cream.
