Description

Apple Bread Pudding: An Incredible Ultimate Recipe for Everyone

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups day-old bread, cubed (French or challah works well)
  • 2 large apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup raisins or sultanas (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Place the cubed bread in a large mixing bowl. If using stale bread, it should be dried out but still soft enough to absorb the custard.
  3. Add the diced apples and raisins (if using) to the bowl with the bread. Toss to combine.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until smooth.
  5. Pour the egg mixture over the bread and apples, stirring gently to ensure everything is well combined.
  6. Drizzle the melted butter over the mixture and stir once more to incorporate.
  7. Pour the bread pudding mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  8. Place in the preheated oven and bake for 45-55 minutes, or until the custard is set and the top is golden brown.
  9. Remove from the oven and allow it to cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
  10. If desired, dust the top with powdered sugar for an elegant finish.
