Description
Apple Bread Pudding: An Incredible Ultimate Recipe for Everyone
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 cups day-old bread, cubed (French or challah works well)
- 2 large apples, peeled, cored, and diced
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup raisins or sultanas (optional)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Place the cubed bread in a large mixing bowl. If using stale bread, it should be dried out but still soft enough to absorb the custard.
- Add the diced apples and raisins (if using) to the bowl with the bread. Toss to combine.
- In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until smooth.
- Pour the egg mixture over the bread and apples, stirring gently to ensure everything is well combined.
- Drizzle the melted butter over the mixture and stir once more to incorporate.
- Pour the bread pudding mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Place in the preheated oven and bake for 45-55 minutes, or until the custard is set and the top is golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and allow it to cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
- If desired, dust the top with powdered sugar for an elegant finish.
